Surrogacy in India

Anand looks a normal and small Indian town in the western state of Gujarat. Several cows and dogs are walking in the dusty streets. Only after meeting many Western people, I realice that I had reached the India’s surrogacy city.

In 2003 Dr Nayna Patel, a fertility specialist, had the first case of surrogacy. She treated an infertile couple to have their own child with the help of the woman’s mother as a surrogate. From that case in the Akanksha Infertility Clinic were born 818 children with 612 deliveries, according to the latest data on August.

This program give to the infertility couple the opportunity to pay to have their own child and, at the same time, to improve the life of the poorest Indian women.
